Ralph Lauren RL67 Safari Grand Date timepieces

“The romance of safari is a dream that I have returned to many times. It is an adventure, a world of refinement set against a rugged and powerful landscape.”— Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren proudly presents two new models of the RL67 Safari timepiece in a larger 50mm size, reinforcing the adventurous, elegant spirit of his signature aesthetic. Both models feature a prominent date more immediately legible than a traditional display. With 0-3 at the left window and 0-9 at the right window, this complication enhances the utility of an iconic Ralph Lauren timepiece.

Ralph Lauren Safari Grand Date Black Dial

The first model, with an azure varnished camouflage dial, features an “aged” steel case, made possible by a technical treatment that transforms the steel into a sublime patina. Water resistant to 10 bar and designed to capture the integrity of a beautifully made tool, this timepiece showcases a dark olive green alligator strap. The Super-LumiNova® hour and minute hands and a varnished, bright-orange second hand point to printed Arabic numerals under a subdued light, adding graphic dimension to the dial. The movement—a mechanical self-winding RL3105 caliber with a power reserve of 42 hours—is decorated with vertical Côtes de Genève and circular graining, known as perlage.

Also housing the RL3105 self-winding movement, the second model complements its “aged” steel case and azure matte-varnished anthracite dial with a “weathered” olive green canvas strap. The original RL67 Safari models debuted in 2013 with a canvas strap in tribute to an explorer’s shoulder bag, and additional canvas straps are sold separately, including blue, black, and faded versions, all lined with leather. Ralph Lauren carefully selected each color, including the classic olive green, to convey the authentic spirit of safari. “When I started out as a designer, I dreamed of going to Africa, to safari,” Ralph Lauren says. “Safari is about living the life you want and pushing yourself beyond your limitations. It’s the dream of experiencing the wild and seeing the farthest reaches of the world.”
