The History of Ralph Lauren

2008

Ralph Lauren Corporation and Richemont announced the formation of the Ralph Lauren Watch and Jewelry Company, S.A.R.L., based in Geneva, Switzerland.

As a result of this partnership, Ralph Lauren Corporation and Richemont created a joint-enterprise for the purpose of designing, developing, manufacturing and selling watches and jewelry in Ralph Lauren boutiques and the best independent retailers in the watchmaking and jewelry sector. This was the first joint venture between Richemont and a prestigious fashion house, and also the first foray of Ralph Lauren Corporation into the field of watchmaking and luxury jewelry.

2009

At SIHH 2009, Geneva, launch of the Ralph Lauren Watches brand. It is typified by its design, the high quality of its products and meticulous attention to detail. Ralph Lauren watches are manufactured in Switzerland and meet all of the criteria of Fine Watchmaking.

2010

Ralph Lauren introduced several new timepieces to join three of the existing collections. Breathtaking models paved and set with diamonds made their entry into the Stirrup and Slim Classique collections. 2010 was also a year marked by the introduction of smaller sizes. This represents a new start for Ralph Lauren, whose passion has always been blending elegance with refinement.

2011

Ralph Lauren surprises again with three iconic watch lines. The collections are enriched with new timepieces which revisit older styles, introduce innovative new materials and offer even more accomplished finishes.

Bringing together his passion for beautiful automobiles with his love for fine watches, Ralph Lauren unveiled the Ralph Lauren Sporting with a dial in precious wood, inspired by the interior of his 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe 1938.

2012

Ralph Lauren refined his three original collections, illustrating the designer's passion for the skill of the craftsman and paying tribute to his modern vision: exceptional timepieces that link Ralph Lauren's taste for luxury, glamour and timelessness with the purest traditions of Swiss watchmaking.

A grand finale for the Ralph Lauren Sporting, paying tribute to motor sport and the spirit of adventure with faded straps, colored stitching and an original "Gunmetal" finish.

2013

Ralph Lauren introduced new Stirrup timepieces inspired by the equestrian world, and watches inspired by the romance of a Safari, designed for both men and women that are sensitive to technical watchmaking precision.

For the first time, Ralph Lauren launched a watch with a tourbillon. Playing with contrasts, the RL67 Safari Tourbillon juxtaposes the ruggedness of a sport watch silhouette and gunmetal case with the luxury of a tourbillon complication and refined alligator strap.

2014

With each new timepiece unveiled, Ralph Lauren revealed his most distinct inspirations and passion for fine Swiss watchmaking. From the elegant beauty of the Slim Classique collection and the Art Deco-inspired glamour of the 867 timepieces to the iconic equestrian heritage of the Ralph Lauren Stirrup watches and the rugged spirit of the Sporting collection Ralph Lauren introduced petite dimensions, refined new materials, bold new colors and a flying tourbillon complication that demonstrates haute horology at its most exceptional

2015

Ralph Lauren presents a stunning range of new additions to his timepiece collections, continuing his unique passion for the combination of mechanics and design that defines fine watchmaking. 

With a total of 12 new timepieces, Ralph Lauren has created strong statements of his extraordinarily sophisticated and deeply personal vision of the art of horology.  

Ralph Lauren finds his inspiration for the Automotive collection in one of the most legendary cars of all time: his award-winning 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe.
